SYSTEM OF A DOWN: Limited-Edition 'Mezmerize'/'Hypnotize' Artwork Prints Available

December 15, 2005

Limited-edition prints of SYSTEM OF A DOWN's "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize" artwork have been released by artist Vartan Malakian (father of SOAD guitarist Daron Malakian) and are currently being auctioned via eBay.

These fine pieces of art were designed with the use of chrome and a transparent print of Vartan's original paintings, which were created for the platinum-selling albums released by SYSTEM OF A DOWN, "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize". Each one of these pieces will be prepared and framed by Vartan Malakian and personally signed by him as it is created.

About Vartan Malakian: In 1993 Vartan Malakian decided to open his Antiques and Art Gallery which was called Arka. Vartan successfully sold over 100 pieces of his own artistic creations to a variety of people including many famous people in the arts industry. The Los Angeles Times called Vartan Malakian's gallery "one of the most unique" in 2001. Vartan has experimented with many different types of art forms including oil and water painting, mosaic glass art, three dimensional arts and more, even taking classes at an Art Institute to expand his knowledge of art and its different forms.

As his son Daron Malakian progressed with his music carrier and SYSTEM OF A DOWN, Daron's wish was to carry his father's artwork onto the stage with him, prompting Vartan to handpaint several of Daron's guitars, which can be seen in many of SYSTEM's videos. Recently Ibanez released a limited edition Iceman guitar which was handpainted by Vartan Malakian and sold by limited numbers at major musical retail stores. Vartan Malakian's most recent project was the development of the artwork which could be found on the CD covers and shirts for the platinum-selling "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize" albums by SYSTEM OF A DOWN. Vartan Malakian has decided to release limited amounts of never-before-seen artwork. These pieces are 20 x 28 in size are all hand-made and framed by Vartan Malakian himself with a combination of chrome and transparent paper and they will all be personally signed by Vartan Malakian.
